  1. Prepare the cupcakes as directed on the box . While they are baking, prepare the coconut and the orange candy slices. In a large bowl add about 4 drops of food coloring at a time and stir in the coloring, repeating until you get the desired yellow. I used 16 drops and stirred quite a bit. Using kitchen shears, slice the orange slices in fourths for the beaks.
  2. Once the cupcakes have cooled, frost them. Immediately put the coconut on. I hold the cupcake over the bowl with the coconut in it and using a spoon, spoon it over the top. Turing the spoon over to the back I gently push the coconut on the frosting to help it stay. Repeat until you have the desired amount of ‘feathers’.
  3. Add two chocolate chips for eyes ( the bottom of the chocolate chip facing out), and the orange slice as the beak. Enjoy!
