In a frying pan add about 1/4 inch of oil and heat to medium -high. Add the smashed plantains to the oil and allow to cook for 1.5-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove from the oil and allow to drain on the paper towel lined plate. Immediately sprinkle some coarse salt over the plantains so it sticks. Allow to cool for a few minutes before you eat them.
