Hello and welcome to The Kusi Life! The word “kusi” means happy in Quechua, a language spoken by the natives who life in the Andes Mountains. I decided create The Kusi Life as a way to focus on things that make me happy, one of which is cooking delicious Hispanic foods and sharing the recipes with others.
My husband grew up in Ecuador and came to the United States to go to college. We met each other as we served as missionaries for our church in Sacramento, California. It was there that I learned the Spanish language and gained a love for the people, the cultures, and the food they made. We have friends from all the different Latin countries from Mexico right on down to Chile. Some of the foods are very similar, where others are very distinct. When we were married, I quickly found that the casseroles that I grew up eating were just not going to cut it, and so began my journey of learning how to make this delicious food.
I am so thankful to be able to stay at home with my two crazy kids who keep me very busy and give me lots of reasons to be happy. To say I am a bookworm is an understatement. I love anything raspberry or coconut and am a big fan of I Love Lucy. I was previously a family/wedding photographer, and I find a certain peace when I get to be in the outdoors. I hope as you visit my blog you will find some new favorite recipes you and your family will enjoy, and that you will be reminded to look for those things that bring happiness to your life.
If you want to share something that makes you happy or ask a question, please leave a comment or send me an email to thekusilife{at}gmail{dot}com.
See the Happy,
-Kirsten
