See the Happy

About

Hello and welcome to The Kusi Life! At The Kusi Life, we love to focus on all things happy, things that we can do to make fun memories and bring happiness to our lives and the lives of our families. This could be through a fun family night, a craft with the kids, making our homes feel ‘homey’ through DIY decorations, or even a family favorite recipe. There are so many things that we CAN do to bring happiness to our lives, rather than waiting for it to come to us!

I am Kirsten, the creator of The Kusi Life. While attending the University of Utah, I took an upper division class to fulfill a requirement called “Positive Psychology” that focused on the strengths we have to help us have more happiness in our lives, rather than focus on our weaknesses or our problems, and I have been hooked on these ideas ever since. I love science based information of things we CAN do to have more happiness in our lives. I have loved learning lots of new things while starting this blog, but quickly saw that it took more time than I could give. My family comes first and I realized I needed some help – enter my two beautiful sisters! They are both extremely talented and fun and we decided to make The Kusi Life a sister’s blog!

A little about me. My husband grew up in Ecuador and came to the United States to go to college. We met each other as we served as missionaries for our church in Sacramento, California. It was there that I learned the Spanish language and gained a love for the people, the cultures, and the food they made. When we were married, I quickly found that the casseroles that I grew up eating were just not going to cut it, and so began my journey of learning how to make lots of different Hispanic foods. I am so thankful to be able to stay at home with my two crazy kids who keep me very busy and give me lots of reasons to be happy. To say I am a bookworm is an understatement. I love anything raspberry or coconut and am a big fan of I Love Lucy. I was previously a family/wedding photographer,and I find a certain peace when I get to be in the outdoors.

Hello! I am Elisa, the oldest of us 3 sisters. After graduating with a degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education from Utah State University, I taught middle school students all about foods, nutrition, sewing, fashion and textiles for over 10 years. During that time I also earned my masters degree in education, so I’m pretty good at the teaching thing! Three years ago I married the love of my life – Matt – and together we have worked hard to create a happy, blended family. We have three children from Matt’s previous marriage and one tiny little girl of our own, and that little sweetheart ties everyone together. I strive to look for the good in life, to see the happy that is everywhere. My personal motto which is woven throughout my life is “SweetHappyLife”. I am girl who loves to travel, spend time with my family, and take pictures of both. Reading is one of my favorite things, as you will come to see here on the blog. I LOVE Spring, flowers, the sweet smell of summer in the morning, and just living! I hate mice and think they should be banned from planet Earth, or at least from houses. It really is a SweetHappyLife! (Well, except for the mice!) 🙂

Hi! I’m Meg, a stay at home mom of 5 wonderful children. I married my high school sweetheart who is just perfect for me. I love my religion, my family and my hobbies.  I enjoy sewing, crafting, re-purposing, reading, and eating chocolate.  I am always looking to learn new things – cake decorating and  photography are the next few on my long list of things I would like to learn.  I have been sewing for 20 years and crafting for almost as long. I recently started an Etsy shop named Sew Beyond Beautiful, or check out my Facebook page.  I love to create unique beauty in my home and I am always trying something new whether it is organizing ideas, home décor, easy dinners the whole family will love, kids crafts, meaningful Family Home Evenings  etc. Why not share these things with the world? Sometimes life is hard but simple things can bring joy and beauty to the journey we all share.

We hope as you visit our blog you will find some new favorite recipes, learn a new skill, feel the joy it is to create, and  be uplifted.  We hope that as you read our blog, you will be reminded to look for those things that bring happiness to your life.

If you want to share something that makes you happy or ask a question, please leave us a comment or send us an email to thekusilife{at}gmail{dot}com.

See the Happy,

-Kirsten, Elisa, and Meg
