How to Make Lettuce Crisp

Have you ever wondered why the lettuce at the restaurant is so crisp and delicious, and at home no matter how fresh it is, it never tastes as good? Ever wonder how to bring your lettuce back to life when it is limp? When I learned how to make lettuce crisp, it was a game changer for me and my cooking! This trick not only makes it crisper, but it also eliminates any unwanted bacteria as well!

Whenever I ate at my mother-in-law’s house, her lettuce always seemed so crisp and extra tasty. The lettuce she had at all of the meals I ate with her seemed to have a bit of flavor I could not put my finger on. After purchasing lettuce the same place she did, I never got the same results. One day she told me this simple trick that will make your lettuce taste oh so good:

Pull the lettuce leaves apart and cut up any way you would like.

Put the lettuce in a bowl, and fill the bowl with cold water until it covers the lettuce. Add about 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar. I will kind of twist the bowl around which will mix the vinegar around in the water.

Let it sit for 10-15 minutes minimum.  You can leave it in the refrigerator for up to a few hours if you want to do some prepping beforehand. Dump out the water and vinegar mix, and rinse once with cold water for a few seconds. I then like to throw the lettuce in my salad spinner and spin all the water off. You are then good to go!
