If you are anything like me, you are always looking for new ways for your kids to stay busy rather than spending time on electronic devices. Grippies Builders are a a STEM toy and a great option for both young and old alike. They are recommended for 18 months and up and I agree – they are entertaining for every age! It is never too early to encourage the use of STEM toys as kids learn so much from play. I was thrilled when Tryazon sent me two packages in return for a review of what we thought of Grippies.

They are  large enough that young children could not choke or swallow them, and they have different colors, shapes, and textures that help grab their attention. For the toddlers they are lots of fun as they learn about magnetic attraction. They did not have a hard time making their own fun while using their imaginations to create just about whatever they wanted to.

I could definitely see as the kids got a little older they began using the pieces to build actual structures. They learned quickly that if they did not have a good base or braces, their structure would not stay up.

The got more and more intricate the more the kids played and saw how the magnets worked.

The magnets are pretty strong and will allow you to build pretty high!

All in all we enjoy playing with Grippies Builders. I would rate them an 8 out of 10. I have hard wood floors and while we played with them on a rug the magnets really attract any hair or dust, but you can rinse them with water which is not that hard to do. If you have more than one child I would recommend getting a few packages as my kids wanted to keep building but they would run out of pieces rather quickly if the two were playing together. You also need to be very careful that you don’t have them anywhere close to your electronic devices as the magnets can harm them and your data!

What is one of your favorite STEM toys?
