See the Happy

Completos {Chilean Hot Dogs}

I grew up eating hot dogs, salsa and chips almost every Saturday night. I remember we would watch the Lawrence Welk Show and M.A.S.H., have our baths and I would hopefully get curlers in my hair for church the next day. Those were much simpler times when all I cared about was who I was going to play with the next day and what we would do together. My dad always bought Wrangler hot dogs and those were the ones I preferred for years until I had a Chilean Hot Dog or a Completo. I think we would say they are hot dogs that have “everything but the kitchen sink”. These things are THE BEST! We had a party for my son a few years ago and did a hot dog bar – I had so many complements! Everyone said they did not know hot dogs could be so delicious!

My mother in law is from Chile – over there you use a hoagie type bun, throw some mayo, avocado, pico de gallo, mustard and ketchup all on top of your hot dog. The flavors are incredible – I have not met anyone who did like them!

I have lots of great memories of Memorial Day weekend. Visiting family’s graves, learning a bit of those who lived before and where I come from, and always having a BBQ afterwards. If hot dogs are on the menu for you and your family this weekend, give it a Chilean twist and try a Completo. You will be so happy you did!

See the Happy!

    When you told me about this I wasn’t too sure but you make them look and sound delicious. I’ll have to try it. I love your blog!
