Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe On The Go!

TTTblogCould you use a little something for those moments at a restaurant, doctor’s office, church etc. where you need your kids to sit/wait quietly? OR do you have children who have a bus ride to school or need something different for recess time?  Here is a fun “little something” you can make and put in your bag or your child’s backpack for those very moments.  Better yet, share the love, make a few and share them with friends for Valentines Day with this Valentine version of tic-tac-toe made specifically for when you’re on the go.

Items needed:

  1. burlap bags (I found a 6 pack at Hobby Lobby)
  2. Nail polish- I only ended up using white and clear (another option would be paint markers)
  3. 3D fabric paint
  4. 10 small rocks (I found a bag of about 80 rocks at Walmart for a buck)Valentine Tic Tac Toe

First draw two horizontal lines and two vertical lines in the center of the bag to make the tic-tac-toe board with the 3D paint.  Set them aside to dry while you work on the rocks.TTTBlog1

Using the white nail polish paint an X on 5 rock a heart on the other 5. (I chose to try it with nail polish because I think nail polish will be more durable and last longer. It would definitely be easier to use a marker though if you don’t want to try the nail polish or if you are doing it with children)  You may make mistakes but the great thing about this is you can use acetone to wipe it off and start over.  It took me a few mistakes to get it down.tttblog4

Once the rocks have dried, put a clear coat on for extra protection.tttblog3

And there you have it.  A quick, easy and super cute Valentine gift to help in those ho hum moments!!

Aw, that’s really cute! I’ve seen a few variations on this theme but I think this is the first one I’ve seen where the playing mat is actually a bag to carry the pieces. Love the use of the glass, too; I have some of those around the house and really nothing to use them for. 😀

Thanks Mac! You should make a few if you have some rocks laying around. Put one in your purse or diaper bag for times when you need to keep kids busy.
