Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars have been a family favorite for several years now. They are super easy, so thick, and have the perfect texture every time! One of the biggest things I love is that I don’t have to make a separate batch of frosting – nope! ONE ingredient frosting people! Who doesn’t love that?! A sweet lady in our ward shared this recipe with me when I was a little beehive (the 12-year-old age group of girls in our church) as I was at her home while she helped me pass off one of my goals. I loved how quick they were, and oh so delicious and I began making them for my family. Thankfully none of our family has allergies to peanuts!
My nephew just received his mission call to serve as a missionary for our church for 2 years – Madrid, Spain! I could not be happier for him as he will be learning Spanish and we will have one more Spanish speaker in the family! When we went over to watch him open his letter telling him where he would be for the next 2 years, I made a pan of these chocolate peanut butter bars and they went fast! I love that if I am going to be with a big group these make plenty to go around. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars have accompanied many of our family get togethers and barbecues as they are hard for anyone to resist!
Did I mention that they are super easy?!
Basic ingredients that we all generally have on hand.
Mix the butter, sugars, eggs, and peanut butter –
Add the flour, salt, baking soda, and oats until you have a nice sticky looking dough.
Place in the middle of your jelly roll pan – a cookie sheet with a lip 🙂 No need to grease the pan!
Using your hand or the back of a spatula, pat the dough down into your pan evenly. Place in the pre-heated oven and bake for 15-17 minutes until golden. Make sure you check at 15 minutes as all ovens do not bake the same!
Here comes the secret ingredient for your “frosting” –
Yep! GHIRADELLI milk chocolate chips! This is NOT a sponsored post – I have used other chocolate chips and these make them taste the absolute best!
When it is ready, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the bars. Allow them to melt for about 10 minutes – and
spread those babies out! 1 ingredient frosting that is DELICIOUS!
I like to cut the edges off before I cut them into squares. The family usually eats the edges, but either way is good!!
Place them on a platter and get ready for lots of compliments coming your way because they are really that good!
