Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars have been a family favorite for several years now. They are super easy, so thick, and have the perfect texture every time! One of the biggest things I love is that I don’t have to make a separate batch of frosting – nope! ONE ingredient frosting people! Who doesn’t love that?! ย A sweet lady in our ward shared this recipe with me when I was a little beehive (the 12-year-old age group of girls in our church) as I was at her home while she helped me pass off one of my goals. I loved how quick they were, and oh so delicious and I began making them for my family. Thankfully none of our family has allergies to peanuts!

My nephew just received his mission call to serve as a missionary for our church for 2 years – Madrid, Spain! I could not be happier for him as he will be learning Spanish and we will have one more Spanish speaker in the family! When we went over to watch him open his letter telling him where he would be for the next 2 years, I made a pan of these chocolate peanut butter bars and they went fast! I love that if I am going to be with a big group these make plenty to go around. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars have accompanied many of our family get togethers and barbecues as they are hard for anyone to resist!

Using your hand or the back of a spatula, pat the dough down into your pan evenly. Place in the pre-heated oven and bake for 15-17 minutes until golden. Make sure you check at 15 minutes as all ovens do not bake the same!

Here comes the secret ingredient for your “frosting” –

Yep! GHIRADELLI milk chocolate chips! This is NOT a sponsored post – I have used other chocolate chips and these make them taste the absolute best!

When it is ready, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the bars. Allow them to melt for about 10 minutes – and

spread those babies out! 1 ingredient frosting that is DELICIOUS!

I like to cut the edges off before I cut them into squares. The family usually eats the edges, but either way is good!!

Place them on a platter and get ready for lots of compliments coming your way because they are really that good!

Come back and let me know how you and your family liked them! I love hearing from you!

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350* Mix the butter, sugars, eggs, and peanut butter in a large bowl - I have done it both by hand and with a hand mixer, either is fine.
  2. Mix the flour, salt, baking soda and oats in a separate bowl. Combine the ingredients from both bowls and mix well until you have a nice dough.
  3. Using a jelly-roll pan (a cookie sheet with a lip), pat the dough out evenly over the pan. I use my hands or the back of a spatula. (There is no need to grease the pan - the peanut butter makes it easy to cut out of the pan). Place in pre-heated oven and allow to bake 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. Check at 15 minutes as each oven cooks differently.
  4. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the peanut butter bars. Allow the chocolate chips to melt for about 10 minutes. Using a spatula, spread the melted chocolate chips (frosting) evenly over the bars. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before cutting.
  5. We actually love these slightly frozen as well. You can freeze them and take them out when you have company or need a little treat and they taste delicious! Enjoy!

Chocolate and peanut butter is the best combination in the entire world. I am super excited to try your recipe for these bars.

Those look so good! Unfortunately we can’t due peanut butter because my oldest is allergic to it. Maybe substituting sun flower butter would work!

Bummer on the peanut butter, but I don’t see why switching it up to flower butter would be a problem. If you try it I would love to hear how they turned out!

Ha! That’s my issue all the time! They are so good and freeze so well! That’s why I generally only make them for a large gathering, otherwise I probly would eat them all!

I am going to print this recipe. I love a good decadent bar recipe. The peanut butter ALMOST makes it seem healthy, but I’m kidding myself. Looks yummy.

Yum, these look so tasty! Plus, it’s so good you literally melt the chocolate chips on at the end, then they are good to go! I’m sure my family would love it if I made them these ๐Ÿ™‚

The fact that the “frosting” is actually chocolate and I dont have to make a separate frosting is one of my favorite things about this recipe, that and they are so darn easy!

These look like they would be so good. I am also pretty darn sure that my kids would devour them all before I even got one.

Ooh, my kids are really into peanut butter bars and biscuits at the minute, so we’re definitely going to have to give these a try! Yummy ๐Ÿ™‚
